How to 5x your conversion rates with Advertorials

We’ve been using advertorials for our clients over the last few months and have seen great success with them

As we’re an Email Marketing / Retention agency (we don’t run ads on the front end) we have started sending out Email Campaigns that have link to these advertorial pages instead of a product page.

We’ve seen our conversion rates from these Email Campaigns go from 3-7% to 15-25% after implementing this. Some of our partners are running ads to these advertorial pages too and it’s working really well.

Let me get into what they are and how they work 👇

What are advertorials?

Advertorials are landing pages with long form copy that goes deep into what your product is and the pain point it solves.

Obviously, this doesn’t work for every product. It needs to be something that solves a pain point and needs to be explained.

For example, health care products and supplements will work great with advertorials. But running advertorials for a T-shirt wouldn’t make sense.

I could yap about what advertorials all day, but let me share one with you here so you can see what a good one looks like.

This is for Joe Rogan’s brand ‘Alpha Brain’ → https://article.onnit.com/productivity/

How to create advertorials

We use https://www.replo.app/ to create our advertorials

You can make Shopify pages super quickly on here without having to be a developer or anything like this

Winning angles for advertorials

Your advertorial has to be focused on a certain angle / pain point. If you just talk about all the potential pain points for your product it’ll just be messy and won’t work as well

Here is our process for finding winning angles for our advertorials 👇

First, identify your winning angles that you’ve already been seeing from your ads - then make advertorials for those angles. For example, if you have 3 winning angles make 3 advertorials

Test these advertorials on your Email list first (no need to waste money on adspend). Send a plain text email (for highest deliverability) to your email list - sending each advertorial to an equal amount of people - then see which one performs the best in terms of revenue and conversion rate

Now, instead of directing people from your winning ad to your product page, bring them to that advertorial page instead

Then the CTA link on the advertorial should bring the audience to either:

  1. The product page

  2. Directly to checkout

Test out both and see what performs better

What makes a good advertorial?

If you look at the Joe Rogan example here, there are a few reasons why this is a good advertorial

Joe Rogan is talking about it in a video at the start. This is obviously a huge endorsement as he’s a widely trusted figure.

They focus on a pain point first. Talking about low concentration levels that a lot of people can relate to, as well as statistics to back up their claims.

Screenshot 2024-07-31 at 19.13.26.png

It goes deep into pain point, saying WHY low concentration levels are bad → how it could be holding you back from a promotion, job targets, etc

After talking about the pain points, it introduced Alpha Brain. It tells us what it is, what it does and how it helps with [pain point].

Then it covers objections and boosts social proof at the end by talking about their money-back guarantee as well as having positive reviews from previous customers.

Here’s how you could go about making a good advertorial:

  1. Good headline (focusing on pain point or posed as a ‘how-to’)

  2. Introduce your pain point

  3. Go deeper into pain point (consequences of not fixing it)

  4. Introduce your product and mention how it fixes it

  5. Go deep into HOW your product fixes it (get technical without boring the reader)

  6. Cover objections + show great social proof

  7. Have a good offer

That’s literally it, it’s actually pretty simple.
